Job Summary:
The Project Manager II shall be the primary manager of all phases of a Company project, with the objective of a successful completion on time, and within budget, while maintaining Company quality, safety, and cash managment standards and producing strong customer references. Project size can range up to $25 million. Projects may be complex, involving large numbers of energy conservation measures and/or cogeneration measures and/or power system technologies, and stringent schedules and operational constraints. The PM II must be able to manage at least two substantial projects simultaneously. The Project Manager II shall understand and follow the Company Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) manual.
Travel can be a significant requirement. Depending on job location, travel can be as high as 40%.

Primary Responsibilities:
Project Development (50%)
- Project Development:
- Be able to perform energy analysis or review analysis performed by others for all project scopes.
- Be responsible for a quality and complete feasibility and/or comprehensive energy report.
- Be responsible that all published reports and other legal commitments are properly risk reviewed.
- Be primarily responsible, with limited assistance from the supervisor, for establishing the cost budget during the FEA/CEA for each project.
- Have a complete understanding of Energy Analyst and Project Engineer job responsibilities in project development. Assign responsibilities to project team. Establish schedules for individual team members.
- Establish a FEA/CEA schedule with adequate milestones for regular progress measurement. Manage the FEA/CEA to completion within the schedule. Report on FEA/CEA progress to the supervisor, Business Development Manager, and the Customer if necessary.
- Establish project resource and expense budgets.
- Be responsible for maintaining Company standards of accuracy, appearance, thoroughness and content.
- Establish a professional relationship with the Customer to correctly identify their objectives and tailor the CEA accordingly.
- Manage preparation of FEA/CEA Reports with the Sales Department and assist in Customer presentations and interviews.
- Be able to prepare and understand Proformas.
- Work with Legal to prepare and negotiate Customer agreements.
- Ensure that the internal Risk Review Package is complete and accurate.
Project Implementation (50%)
- Prepare and negotiate, in conjunction with Legal, Finance, and the supervisor, all project contracts and change orders.
- Manage all technical aspects of the project.
- Be responsible for managing all cost components of the project during implementation, and maintain precise and updated actual costs vs. budget throughout the project.
- Be responsible for immediately notifying the supervisor upon determining that a project may be, or is, over budget or under staffed.
- Establish a project schedule with adequate milestones for regular progress measurement. Manage the job to completion within the schedule. Issue regular job progress reports.
- Work with Accounting to invoice the Customer monthly on each project.
- Review the internal Aging Report to ensure Customer payment to Company. Proactively approach Customer regarding any payment delays or issues.
- Complete the Cost-to-Complete form monthly for each project.
- Serve as Customer’s primary contact.
- Ensure that the Monitoring Set-up Package (if applicable) and final job close-out information are completed on time.
- Immediately notify supervisor of any significant problems on projects immediately as they occur.
Required Abilities:
- Proficient in energy analysis as well as engineering design in an energy-related discipline.
- Must be proficient at conducting HVAC, lighting/electrical, and controls surveys, analyzing ECM costs and savings.
- Complete understanding of all ECM technologies being proposed.
- Expert level knowledge and experience of cogeneration will be required for some Project Manager II positions.
- Skilled in business development, able to make a substantial contribution to closing business as well as to manage the customer relationship during implementation.
- People skills, cash management skills, scheduling and reporting skills, and financial management skills.
- Must be able to lead a multidisciplinary team, work closely with Sales, and build strong customer relationships.
Education/Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering, architecture, or science discipline from an accredited college or university
- A minimum of ten years of related experience.
- A minimum of two years of project management in a capacity equivalent to the Company Project Manager I position is required.
- A Professional Engineer’s license is highly recommended. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification should also be considered.
- Must have developed and successfully implemented a minimum of five significantly complex projects.
- In lieu of an engineering, architectural or science degree, 14 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree is acceptable.
