Job Summary:
The
Project Manager (PM) shall be the primary manager of all phases of a Company project, with the objective of a successful completion on time, and within budget, while maintaining Company quality, safety, and cash managment standards and producing strong customer references. Project size can range up to $25 million. Projects may be complex, involving large numbers of energy conservation measures (ECMs), cogeneration, power system technologies, water meter replacement, and renewable resources such as wind and solar power generation. Must be able to manage at least two substantial projects simultaneously and follow standard procedures.
On-site project time can be as high as 40% but is expected to be within the Dallas metro area or within a short driving distance the majority of the time.
Primary Responsibilities:
Project Development (50%)
- Establish a professional relationship with the Customer to correctly identify their objectives and tailor the CEA accordingly.
- Assist Sales with qualifying potential projects. Manage preparation of feasibility energy analyses (FEAs), utility bill analyses and RFP/Q responses. Assist in Customer presentations and interviews.
- Prepare and review comprehensive energy analyses (CEAs).
- Be responsible for all published reports and other CES legal commitments being properly risk reviewed.
- Be primarily responsible, with limited assistance from the supervisor, for establishing the cost and resource budget during the FEA/CEA for each project.
- Understand team members’ job responsibilities and assign tasks ands schedules to them.
- Establish a FEA/CEA schedule with adequate milestones for regular progress measurement.
- Be responsible for maintaining Company standards of accuracy, appearance, thoroughness and content.
- Prepare financial proformas.
- Work with Legal to prepare and negotiate Customer agreements.
Project Implementation (50%)
- Serve as Customer’s primary contact.
- Prepare and negotiate all project contracts and change orders.
- Manage all technical aspects of the project.
- Manage all project cost components and maintain precise actual costs vs. budget throughout the project
- Establish a project schedule with adequate milestones for regular progress measurement. Manage the project to meet the schedule. Issue regular job progress reports.
- Invoice the Customer monthly on each project.
- Manage the Customer payment process to Company. Proactively approach Customer regarding any payment delays or issues.
- Complete monthly revenue forecasts for each project.
- Ensure the final project documentation is completed on time.
Required Abilities:
- Proficient in energy analysis as well as engineering design in an energy-related discipline.
- Proficient at conducting HVAC, lighting/electrical, and controls surveys, analyzing ECM costs and savings, and completely understand proposed technologies.
- Knowledge and expertise of cogeneration systems, landfill gas, water meter replacement, wind turbines, solar panels and other renewable resources is desirable.
- Skilled in business development, and able to make a substantial contribution to closing business and managing customer relationships during implementation.
- Strong people skills, cash management, scheduling, reporting and financial management skills are required.
- Must be able to lead a multidisciplinary team consisting of Sales, customer, internal engineering resources and consultants.
Education/Experience:
- BS Engineering Degree- Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural.
- 10 years of related experience and management training with Engineering Degree.
- Professional Engineer's License is strongly preferred and LEED accreditation is recommended.
- Work experience may be considered in lieu of an engineering degree, in which case a bachelor’s degree in another field and a minumum of 15 years related experience are required.
