HOT JOB: Project Engineer 1

Job Summary:

The Project Engineer I works under the direct supervision of the Project Manager to complete the Comprehensive Energy Analysis. The PE I shall read, understand, and follow Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) manual. Travel is required for this position, and may be up to 40%.

Senior Project Manager, Senior Project Director or Manager of Engineering & Construction Services

Primary Responsibilities:


    Surveying (30%)
  • Learn to use all metering and measurement tools used at company and understand the data provided.
  • Gain a working knowledge of identifying different types of HVAC controls systems (EMS).
  • Learn to be proficient at performing lighting and water surveys.
  • Identify energy savings opportunities under the direction of the Project Manager.
    Analysis and Engineering (50%)
  • Learn to use and understand the computer modeling software programs, such as Market Manager, DOE – II, or Trane Trace, and apply them in preparing the CEA.
  • Become competent at performing lighting and water ECM analysis, which includes estimating savings, estimating material and labor costs, and determining the appropriate technologies.
  • Become competent at quantifying energy usage from miscellaneous equipment, such as refrigerators, stoves, TVs, hospital equipment, etc.
  • Become proficient at performing load take-offs from drawings. Prepare the input data for each model for the computer simulation software.
    Report Writing (20%)
  • For the CEA, prepare the lighting and water and miscellaneous equipment DOP, and the lighting and water ECM write-ups.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by senior team members.

Required Abilities:

  • The Project Engineer I will often be new or relatively new to the energy engineering field.
  • The engineer must be computer literate, and proficient in Word and Excel.

Education/Experience:

  • The Project Engineer I shall have a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.

Any requirement above can be waived with the consent of the Operations Director and the Human Resources Business Partner.
